Introduction :

We are seeking a Chief Engineer, Hydraulics to join the Grinding, Bulk, Pyro (GBP) Business Line in our Services Business Area! In this role, you will provide technical leadership and engineering support during the execution of project-specific engineering for equipment in the assigned product line. This position is responsible for analyzing and validating the development of innovative solutions and improvement of existing solutions. In this position, you will report to Senior Manager, SVS GBP.

This position can be located in Tampere or Espoo, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Please note that occasional domestic and international travel might be required.

The members of our team are located in different Metso Technology centers around the globe.

What you’ll do:
  • Plan and lead the detail design work globally in equipment delivery projects and product development activities
  • Be responsible for reviewing and achieving the project engineering, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate with different Product Lines and management to establish design guidelines and standards for SVS GBP mining equipment upgrades, retrofits, and refurbishments.
  • Create hydraulic and mechanical drawings for the fabrication, construction, and installation of equipment or services.
  • Develop design ideas and solutions for hydraulic equipment; perform timely engineering calculations and review drawings, diagrams, and bill of materials for accuracy
  • Observe safety regulations and exhibit a concern for safety.
  • Apply and respect company policies, objectives, goals, safety, and ISO and ANSI quality standards
  • Resolve non-conformance and manufacturing deviation issues
  • Investigate hydraulic problems and propose corrective actions and/or repair procedures.
  • Provide technical support to field service representatives.
Who you are:
  • BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field of mechanical design, along with at least 10 years of progressive work experience.
  • Design experience in hydraulic engineering for heavy industry equipment, experience from mining and minerals processing equipment is a plus
  • Experience of complex lubrication systems
  • Advanced experience in hydraulic and multi-physique simulation is a plus.
  • Strong experience using 2D, 3D and PLM software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex engineering challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with a capability of articulating technical concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to mechanical design in heavy industries.
  • Experience in Autodesk products is preferred
  • Product knowledge of major mining equipment is a plus
  • Electrical system experience is a plus
