Norwegian Travel is one of the leading tourism companies in the country. As part of our ambition to set the standard for activity-based tourism in Norway we are delighted to announce that our daughter company, Arctic Husky, is now operating from a new location in the spectacular Tamok valley.

About you:

If you have no experience with sled dogs, but you are happy among them in general and you are a fast learner who can take frequent early failure as a step towards learning, we are happy to provide a crash course in becoming a great sled dog guide so you can learn everything you need.

If you have worked in a kennel before and are comfortable driving a sled dog team and have some experience with guiding that’s an advantage.

You are good at service and are motivated by the fact that guests have a good experience. You like working with people and you’re outgoing and sociable. You have control over “everything”, work structured and are good at having a lot of balls in the air. You have a problem-solving attitude and always keep your cool under pressure. You are happy, willing and able to take charge and initiative when the unexpected happens and handle every challenge in a swift and expeditious manner with a reassuring smile on your face.

Skills & Requirements:
  • You respect and understand dogs
  • You should love to work both with animals and humans and you shouldn’t be shy of guiding and talking with our guests
  • Good physical condition and being able of lifting weights up to 20 kg
  • You should love the cold because temperatures can drop down to -30 C and we have to take care of our dogs and guests in all kinds of weather
  • Language skills: English, any additional language skills are also highly welcome
  • European driving license class B
  • A good sense of humor to survive the long and dark polar night
  • A “yes-I-can-do-it”-attitude
We offer:
  • Seasonal contract
  • Guiding tourists, handling and training huskies, driving dog sleds and wagons
  • We have an experienced core staff that will teach you everything that you don’t know yet for the job, while also happy to learn from you and incorporate your knowledge into our routines
  • Competitive terms and accommodation
  • Basic work clothing and equipment will be provided
  • Great colleagues
  • Adventure in the north of Norway and an exciting opportunity to work with guests and staff from all over the world
