Over the last year, HX has been focussed on becoming a fully standalone business from Hurtigruten Group. We’re hard at work, splitting our systems and digital real estate, while also developing our unique brand proposition, to become the global leader in the expedition cruise segment. As part of this, we are hiring for a Senior Backend Developer to help manage this transition, initially taking over ownership of our B2B Partner APIs and Integrations, but with a longer term scope to provide backend architectural skills to set the direction of HX.

Our perfect candidate will have an architectural mindset, is comfortable working autonomously and to lead and grow a Backend function. This role is somewhat unique in that much of the scope of responsibilities will be defined in the coming months and there is a great opportunity for a candidate willing to operate within some ambiguity.

This is an exciting role as it will be the first Backend hire in the new HX set up and will work with the current Hurtigruten team to understand the existing set up ahead of taking over the HX responsibilities as the team scales.

Our engineering team is based across London and Prague and currently owns a:

– B2C application, which consumes a legacy booking system API and content from Contentful via a GraphQL middleware.

We’re currently transitioning to take over a HX dedicated:

– B2B React Application and Partner APIs

– React Native cruise ship app

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain new integrations with external systems.
  • Create and manage APIs for internal and external purposes.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of production code.
  • Write clean, testable, high-quality code and participate in code reviews.
  • Support the deployment and testing of new products and features.

Please note there is also an on-call element to the role since our ships sail in multiple regions and time zones globally.

Qualifications:
  • .NET
  • Proven experience in API development and system integration.
  • Proficiency in Azure, IaC, Helm, Docker, and Kubernetes (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Actor pattern/models and Domain domain-driven design (DDD).
  • Experience with Octopus Deploy, Git, and DevOps principles.
  • Broad expertise in your field with demonstrated proficiency in critical areas.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
