Ship Systems Specialist – ITOT

The Ships Systems Specialist ensures the smooth and efficient operation of ship-based IT systems and infrastructure with a focus on maintaining performant, reliable, secure systems that allow the on-board teams to deliver a fantastic customer experience to our guests.  This role will work closely with the shoreside IT teams but will be ship focused and will therefore interact with the Shoreside EDE and the on-board technical teams on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee management and maintenance of the ship based infrastructure which includes servers, databases, and other hardware and software systems that underpin business processes at sea to ensure the guest experience can be delivered seamlessly.​
• Take ownership of POS system, working closely with the vendor and shoreside teams to resolve any payment related issues.
•  Endpoint scope: On-board computers, tablets, phones, printers, AV & Entertainment, TV, Door locks​, ensuring that endpoints are set up properly and meet the organisation’s standards and policies.​
• Manage and maintain all media equipment on board including expedition computers, LCD projectors, wall LCD displays and “surface” displays, in-ear translation devices, laser pointers, microphones and similar equipment.​
• Manage Bazeport channels including channel set-up and uploading of content (in cooperation with shore-side content team)
• Continuous improvement & System Monitoring: Help identify issues proactively, track system performance & efficiency, identify any bottlenecks or failures​ and table solutions
• Support ship dockings working alongside the Maritime PM to deliver the IT scope (upgrades, changes, refreshes etc)

Education and experience required:

• Proficient in Windows Server 2022 Standard, Datacentre and Enterprise Edition.
• Proficient in Windows Active Directory including DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, Entra Connect and Azure AD.
•  Proficient in Microsoft Exchange Hybrid and Microsoft 365.
• Proficient in supporting Dell Server and Storage Hardware, including configuration of Storage arrays and Fibre Switches and Dell VPLEX.
• Proficient in VMWare, Veeam Backups and Replication.
• Proficient in Windows 10 and Windows 11 – Image deployment via SCCM, and Troubleshooting and EndPoint Management (Patch deployment, Antivirus etc)
• Experience in Redhat Linux and Suse Linux.
• Basic troubleshooting of databases – PostGresql, MySQL, Oracle.
• Experience in Cat6 Structured cabling, rack cabling, patching and labelling.
• Experience in supporting AV & Entertainment systems including TV in a hospitality environment
• Experience in managing media equipment
• Ability to work closely with vendors and coordinate troubleshooting and resolution activities when issues are reported
• An understanding of the cyber risk associated with technology
• Teamworking skills in order to collaborate with team members and stakeholders​
• Experience of working closely with third parties and vendors
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience ​
